Grimes County Democrats meet the first Saturday of each month, that’s March 2nd  @ 3pm in the Grimes County Commissioners Court room. Located at 273 Buffington Lane, in Anderson.


The American Legion Family Post 84 meets at  Woodbine Restaurant @ 6:30pm the first Tuesday of each month that would be Feb 5th.

Also……The American Legion Post 84 in Madisonville would like to invite everyone to play in their weekly 42-Dominoe Tournament on Weds & Thurs. @7pm . There is a $10 entry fee required and random partners. For more information call Mark Tinsley @ 936-348-6036  


The Woodmen Lodge meets at 6:30 pm the first Thursday of each month that’s Feb 7th at the Madisonville Volunteer Fire Dept.


The Kruzin Eagles Riding Group meets at 10 am the first Saturday of each month, which is Feb 2nd at the Madisonville Volunteer Fire Dept. then goes for a ride. There is a monthly potluck supper. For information call Tim at 936-245-0997.


Rock Hounds will meet every second Thursday of the month which is 6:30 pm on Jan 10th or Feb 14th, located at 102 S. McIver “The 1st United Methodist Church of Madisonville” in the old Fellowship Hall. There’s no age requirement or cost, anyone who is interested in rocks, minerals, fossils, Indian artifact and even metal detecting will enjoy this group. The Madisonville Noon Lion’s Club meets at noon on Thursdays at the various locations and guests are welcome.

Brazos Valley Community Action Agency is accepting applications for its Head Start program for the upcoming school Year. Contact the center for more information at 936-348-3915.


Head Start of Madisonville is a preschool program that provides comprehensive educational social services to eligible children. Tails of Loss is a free Community Grief Program for pet loss , being held from 10 to 11:30 am the second Saturday of each month that’s Feb 9th  at the Mending Hearts Grief Center. Located  2112 Southwood Drive in College Station. Grief for the loss of a pet can be complicated, impacting people emotionally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Texas Mushroom Festival board and committees meet the last Tues of each month, that’s Jan 29th at the Woodbine @ 5:15pm.


MARI the Madisonville Area Revitalization Initiative meets the last Tuesday of the month, that’s Jan 29th at the Woodbine @ 6pm.



Library Storytime for pre-school aged is @ 10am Thursdays at Madison County Library, beginning Feb 7th and ending April 18th  for story’s, rhymes, songs, finger play, registration is movement activities and a craft promoting early literacy & skills. Madisonville Christian Fellowship is hosting a monthly Veterans coffee and fellowship at the church on 3973 Hwy 21 East, on the first Saturday of each month which will be Feb 2nd from 8 to 10:00 am, with a guest speaker at 8am. Midway Church of Christ will hold their Lanier Stevens Memorial Gospel Singing on the 2nd Tues of every other month, that’s Mar 12th at the Fellowship Hall. Finger food will be served at 6pm and the singing will start around 6:30pm. Dennis Ivey will be hosting the event, anyone that likes to sing or play an instrument or simply enjoys good ‘ole Gospel & Country music is invited.


A Madisonville Prayer Group will hold weekly sessions at 12:30pm Saturdays at the House of Hope located at 901 W. Trinity. All concerned residents are welcome. For information call Ferney Lord at 936-662-7856.


West End Cemetery Group will meet the first Monday of every month, that’s Feb 4th @ 6 pm in the Senior Citizen’s Facility. Be encouraged to attend & please spread the word to others.


First United Methodist Church will hold it’s Annual Father daughter Dance from 6 to 7:30 pm Friday, Feb 8th,in Wesley Hall. Gentlemen, please bring your Daughter, Niece or Granddaughter – pre school to eighth grade.Refreshments & Photograph will be provided at no cost. There is no charge.
